MELISSA JONES STUDIOS
Hi. I am Melissa Jones, a visual and musical artist based in Paris, TX. I have a special affection for repurposing and using found objects in my art, a love of story-telling, and I believe passionately in the power of a song. I come from a long line of hard-working, hands-on creative people and consider myself as a conduit for divinely-inspired creativity to flow through to the next generation of creatives.
After studying various forms of art at Kansas State University, I discovered a love for painting. As a mixed-media artist, it’s a joy to layer a variety of mediums, paper, fabric and found objects, that are representational of my artwork’s message.
I love creating something out of what others might consider nothing. “I could do something with that” is a thought that perpetually runs through my mind. The art of rummaging, reimagining and repurposing discarded items, into something useful and interesting to look at, has been a common thread in my creative process for as long as I can remember.
It all started in a little country church in Oakley, KS. I was singing and playing piano as my dad led songs from his guitar. Through the years, I have performed in school choirs, a collegiate ambassador group at Kansas State University and a theme park in KC, MO. Now, I enjoy leading worship and playing gigs with a local cover band. My ultimate goal is to pass on what I know and love about music to anyone who wants it.
